We are so sorry about your loss. If a swan stops eating, this is a sign that something is terribly wrong with the bird. She may have been unable to keep warm, dry, water repellent or had a serious infection. The moving of the feeder into the water may help.

How old are the swans? There is no guarantee that he will take on another mate. You will need to place the new female swan in a pen (1/2 on land and 1/2 in water completely enclosed top to bottom to prevent predators from digging under the pen or climbing over the pen to access the swan).
