Hi Lesley:
What you are describing is called the "Triumphant Sign". This usually occurs after mating or after chasing an intruder from the habitat. Swans will also shake their wings for stretching and to dry. If you have any concern that the swans may be in danger, please contact Wendy Hermon at Swan Support in Eton so they can be checked out. The Regal Swan
