In Response To: Swan adoption of other birds/animals? (Patricia)
Hi Patricia:
Normally, the answer would be no. In fact, because geese, ducks, swans and other waterfowl are extremely territorial in protecting their families, they usually do not allow the young of other swans, birds or animals in their area.
Now, having said that, there are some instances where geese have taken in other goslings that were orphaned. This may be an individual attribute so we can't say that no swan or other waterfowl would not taken in an orphan, but it is not a usual occurrence. The Regal Swan
