Hi Arizona:

The swans may be returning from their migratory trip and using this lake until the weather permanently warms. This is why you may be seeing different swans on the lake. Your swans should return back to your pond once the weather warms as most swans/birds/animals will return to their home nesting sites, especially if they have been successful in previous years. That is not to say that your cygnets from last year will return. They may or may not because their job is to find a mate and start their own nesting areas.

If something happened to one of your adult swans, then they may re-pair (especially the female). In this case, your swans may or may not return based upon where their new mate wants to nest.

We think that your adults will return, just give it a few weeks. Please let us know if and when your swans return. The Regal Swan
