Hi Tony

Yes, the swans will either pull the old feathers out or the feathers will work their way out by themselves.

If the entire wing is comprised of the quills and the feathers appear backwards, then this is a permanent condition known as "angel wing" which renders the swan unable to fly. The condition can be caused by poor diet or genetics. Hopefully, what you are describing is the normal shedding of old feathers and the new feathers will replace them soon. The Regal Swan
