Hi Marsha:

We have been hearing about these swans for many years as well as others who are kept in the hotel setting. There is nothing wrong with this as the swans are being cared for through veterinary care, provided a safe area against predators and other dangerous situations and the swans are very healthy.

Swans are lazy birds. They do not care where they sit for hours at a time as long as they are provided food, a safe habitat, ample room to preen, bathe, sleep and feed.

These are Mute Swans and they are actually safer in this environment instead of the wild as federal and many state wildlife officials are trying to kill them so they can open their habitats. These wildlife officials then introduce a larger swan species, the Trumpeter Swans for Trophy Waterfowl hunting. So, you have conservation officials who are more concerned about the money, wiping out an entire species so they can introduce a larger swan for hunting purposes. This hotel setting is indeed much more humane and safe for these swans.

Thanks so much for caring about the swans. The Regal Swan
