Black Swans yearlings: Sexing; and seemingly underweight: Should I deworm?

Hello,
I hope this message finds you great.
I have a year-old pair of black swans and have a couple of queries on them please:
1) how I can tell the difference between male and female at that age without using a genetic expensive test nor a specialist diagnosis. Just a practical way that I can perform myself..
2) one of the swans seems to me that is underweight compared with its mate but is eating fine and walks and swims fine. Should I deworm them because I have never done that since very young. I feed them good-quality pellets with 24% protein twice a day.
Thanks so much for your kind help and advice
JULIAN
