Ask the Swan Specialist
Date: 1 February 2014
Hi Josh:
Can you tell us exactly which cemetery. If it is the Ridgewood Cemetery near Milwaukee and Central, they have a bubbler and the pond is usually open. If the pond is not wide open, or if this is not the cemetery, please let us know which one it is and we will try to contact the caretakers. Normally, all white colored swans (with the exception of the Coscoroba) are Northern Hemisphere Swans. They are built for winters, but they do need open waters.
All swans with colored feathers (Black Swans, Coscoroba (black wingtips) and the Black-Necked Swans) are Southern Hemisphere Swans and are built for warmer weather.
Thank you for caring. Please let us know as soon as possible the name and location of the cemetery and we'll try to intervene. The Regal Swan
