Mute Swan Bubbler Question: Keeping the swan safe from the foxes

Hi,
If you remember me from a few weeks back ... our female swan was hit by a car last month. The male is on our frozen lake and we are unable to catch him. Last night i was awake because he was stalked all night by several foxes. I am just horrified because i cannot catch him.
We installed an Airmax Aerator today. Together with some very hard work of breaking up and trying to get rid of the ice there is about a 30 x 25 foot open area of water in the lake. It extends from my lakefront out. I am wondering if this is enough space to keep the swan safe from the foxes?? So far he is staying in this area and seems to like it.
what are his chances of survival? will his instict tell him to stay in the water when the foxes come.
Thanks,
Lynne
