I have a few questions about our upcoming swan eggs that are due to hatch about June 13, 2014. We have a large pond totally fenced with about 50 wild ducks on it as well as two swans, Swanee the female and Steven the male. Swanee began sitting on her five eggs on May 2, 2014 and I am very worried about the survival of the cygnets when they are hatched. Two Canadian geese also live on the pond. The pond is full of turtles and fish. It is a very lively active pond and I do not know what I need to do to protect the babies. The parents are very protective of their eggs and I feel they would be very protective of the babies, but if the babies went into the water, I feel the turtles will kill them. We do have a water fowl isolation stall in our large barn and we could move the family there, however, it is only 12 feet by 12 feet and has no water in the stall. We do have a wading pool that we could put in there, but would that be good or not to move the family? Please let me know what you think.
