A long as he is eating, able to get up and down non-steep banks and protective of the family, we would suggest watching him closely for a couple of days to ensure he is not getting worse or suffering. If after this time he is still limping, you need to get him to a veterinarian and check for an injury you may not see via an x-ray.

If it is a soft tissue injury he may need to be kept in a safe secure setting so that predators cannot access him and he is on straw and a non slip surface to heal. The veterinarian can also prescribe Metacam which will act as a pain killer and can reduce swelling. Just be sure to keep him indoors for a couple of days if he is on Metacam to see how he acts on the medication.
